Has anyone else been following the testimony from the neighbors in the rooming house? It’s really upsetting to think about how close they were to the situation and might have been to preventing it. It sounds like they heard an argument and then the gunshot, but it happened so fast. I can't imagine the trauma for those folks who lived there, especially knowing DeMya's little girl was in the room at the time. It must be so hard for them, not just because they lost a neighbor, but because of the "what ifs" that they're left with. I wish there were more resources to help people recognize these signs and take action sooner, maybe it could save lives next time. My heart goes out to all who were affected by this, and especially to DeMya’s family and her precious daughter.
Hey everyone, I’ve been following the case of DeMya Gordon and something that really stands out to me is the impact it must have had on the people staying in the rooming house. I can’t imagine the trauma of witnessing or hearing something so tragic happen just a few doors away. It must have been horrifying for the other residents to hear the argument and then that gunshot.
It makes me think about how the environment itself - being in a place where you’re maybe looking for some stability or a fresh start - ends up becoming a scene of such violence. I hope the other residents have been able to get the support they need to process this experience. It was an incredibly difficult situation all around, not only for DeMya’s family but also for those who were in close proximity to this tragic event. They were unsung witnesses to something no one should ever have to encounter.
Sending thoughts to all those who were indirectly affected by this case. It's a strong reminder of why we need to push for more awareness and resources surrounding domestic violence.
I keep thinking about DeMya's little girl who was in the room when all this happened. It breaks my heart that she had to be there and witness such a traumatic situation at such a young age. I hope and pray she's surrounded by loving family and gets the support and care she needs to grow up strong and resilient. It's crucial that as a community we rally around children affected by such violence to ensure they have a chance at a bright future, despite the darkness they've experienced. I can't help but feel the overwhelming need to protect these innocent kids and offer them a better world.
