I've been thinking a lot about how the Chester community must have felt after the tragic events of November 6, 1948. Losing Peter Parker and the other victims in such a senseless act of violence would have been incredibly difficult for everyone involved. I can't help but wonder how the police officers present that day coped with the aftermath too. They showed up in force, 78 of them, trying to bring order to absolute chaos. I imagine those officers were faced with overwhelming emotions, knowing they were unable to prevent Collins from taking so many lives, including his own. It's a stark reminder of the human side of law enforcement, trying their best in unimaginable situations. My heart really goes out to the families and the community, having to find a way to heal and carry on after such a tragedy. I hope local residents found some semblance of peace over time, even with so many questions left unanswered.
