Has anyone else been looking into the pattern of these killings involving truck routes? I came across the case of Wayne Leigh Rifendifer recently, and it's just so chilling to think about how vulnerable hitchhikers were back in the day (and even now, to some extent). The fact that the murderer potentially used these truck routes to find and kill victims makes me wonder about the lifestyle of the suspect. It seems plausible that they could be a trucker or someone who travels for work.
It's so alarming that the same .38-caliber revolver was connected to another murder across the country in Utah. This tidbit made me think—how did law enforcement initially piece that together? I assume ballistics played a role, but the interstate element adds so much complexity to the case. It's tragic and frustrating that with such a connection, the case is still unsolved. Sending love to Wayne's and Marty's families and hoping for breakthroughs in these cold cases someday. Anyone else have thoughts on how the suspect might have evaded capture for so long?
Wow, just reading about this again and it's chilling. Has anyone else thought about the implications of the psychological profile the authorities developed? With the cases spanning across so many states, the idea of it being a truck driver or traveling salesman makes so much sense. Those are professions that inherently involve constant movement and exposure to many different regions. It just makes me so uneasy to think that someone could be carrying out such horrendous acts and never being stopped due to their transient lifestyle.
In cases like Wayne Leigh Rifendifer’s murder, it feels like finding a needle in a haystack, but I sincerely hope law enforcement continues to look into similar cases across state lines. It’s 2023, and I wish by now there was more known about who this monster might be. To Wayne’s family and friends, my heart goes out to you, knowing justice hasn’t yet been served. Stay strong. ?
