Remembering Nancy Lyons always brings tears to my eyes. She was such a young soul taken too soon in such a senseless act of violence. I can't even begin to imagine the pain her mother, Dorothy, must have felt losing her child in this massacre. It's really haunting to think about how such innocence was caught up in the chaos of that day. While the legal aspects and the details about George Banks often dominate discussions, it’s important we don’t lose sight of Nancy's life and innocence. She should be remembered not just as a victim but as a little girl who had many dreams and a bright future ahead. The community certainly has a hole left by Nancy and the others who were lost. Every year, when the anniversary comes around, I hope we all take a moment to honor and remember Nancy, and to send some love and strength to her family and those who knew her. It's hard not to feel the weight of these memories, even after all these years.

It’s been over four decades since the Wilkes-Barre massacre, but the loss of young Nancy Lyons still weighs heavily on those who remember that fateful day. While many discussions understandably focus on the perpetrator of these heinous crimes, I found myself reflecting on Nancy and the innocent life she never got to live. As an 11-year-old, she had so much potential and a future that was unjustly stolen from her. I can't even begin to imagine the grief her mother, Dorothy Lyons, endured—not only losing her daughter but in such a violent and senseless way. The way the community rallied around the families affected is a testament to the resilience and compassion of the people in Wilkes-Barre. It's this spirit of solidarity that has helped preserve Nancy's memory and the memories of the other victims over the years. Does anyone else here have memories or stories related to the community response after the tragedy? I'd love to hear more about how the town came together during such a difficult time.
