Does anyone know more about how the community reacted to the Anchor Glass tragedy back in '85? It seems like the whole town must have been in shock after what happened. I can’t imagine what the families of the victims, including Donald Abbott, went through during those days. From what I've read, South Connellsville is a close-knit community, so something like this probably affected everyone deeply. It’s just hard to wrap my head around how they managed to rebuild and continue after such a devastating event. If anyone has stories about how the community came together to support each other, I'd love to hear more about that aspect. It must have been incredibly challenging for everyone involved.

I came across this case while scrolling through some old news archives, and I can't stop thinking about Donald Abbott and the other victims. One thing that stands out to me is how unexpected this tragedy was, given Hammett's reputation as a "quiet and hardworking" individual. It's so unsettling to think that someone can hold such intense emotions beneath the surface without anyone noticing. I wonder if there were any signs, however subtle, that might have hinted at his inner turmoil. It must be incredibly difficult for friends and family to reconcile the person they knew with the actions he took. I really hope that workplaces now have better support systems to help identify and address these kinds of issues before they lead to such tragic outcomes. My thoughts are with everyone affected by this senseless act.
