Reading about the events surrounding Matthew Mathias's murder makes me truly think about the courage and strength it takes to survive such a harrowing experience. Michelle Powell, who was severely wounded during the attack, has my deepest sympathies. It's unimaginable the trauma she endured, both physically and emotionally, having been at home with Matthew during those final moments. I can't help but wonder about the long-term effects this incident might have had on her life and well-being. Surviving such a violent event must leave lasting scars, and I hope she has had the support and resources she needs to heal and move forward. These kinds of crimes affect more than just those directly involved—they ripple out, impacting families, friends, and entire communities. For Michelle and all of Matthew’s family, may they find peace and strength in the love and memories they shared with him.
