Ever since I learned about Stephon "Nickle" Reed, I've been struggling to understand how something so senseless could happen. It’s especially tough knowing he was just an innocent bystander. I can’t imagine the pain his family must feel, knowing they lost him in such a tragic and random way. What really gets to me is the seeming randomness of it all. It’s a stark reminder of how dangerous it can be in some neighborhoods, where people are just trying to get through their day but are caught up in violence that isn’t even related to them. Reed was only 23, with his whole future ahead of him, and it’s devastating that his life was cut short. If anyone in the area has any information, I hope they come forward. Families and communities deserve justice and peace. It feels personal, even for those of us who didn’t know him, because gun violence is something that affects us all in one way or another. Staying hopeful that one day, this case will be solved and his family can find some semblance of closure.
