It's so hard to hear about such a tragic loss like Kiesha Jenkins'. I've been following her case, and I find it really perplexing how quickly the police dismissed the possibility of it being a hate crime. I understand that they believe it was a robbery, but given the history of violence against transgender individuals, it feels like an aspect that deserves more careful consideration. It's frustrating to think that a crime of this nature might be reduced to a mere matter of opportunity rather than recognizing the broader social issues at play. I really hope that the ongoing investigation brings to light all aspects of this crime so that Keisha and her family get the justice they deserve. It’s critical that we continue advocating for protections for transgender individuals, as no one should ever be targeted for who they are. We owe it to Kiesha to demand thorough investigations and systemic change.
