I’ve been thinking a lot about how Jemar Phillips’ family is coping with this senseless tragedy. One detail I can’t shake is how it all happened at the Last Stop Cafe—a place that seems like it should be about community and perhaps even joy, not violence and loss. Anyone from Erie who knows this spot? Does it have a reputation for being dangerous, or was this completely out of the blue? I can’t imagine the trauma for those who witnessed it, too. Prayers and strength to Jemar’s family, his fiancé, and especially his kids who have to navigate life without him. It’s just so frustrating how gun violence keeps shattering lives. Would be great to hear from anyone who knows more about the local effort to curb this kind of violence.
