Has anyone thought about the possibility that John Chesley might have tried to make his way toward a familiar place from his past? I've read that sometimes people with dementia try to return to spots that meant something to them earlier in their lives. Oroville is quite a drive from either Montana or Washington, but it's intriguing to consider if he was attempting to find his way back to family or a place that held memories. For all we know, there might be someone out there who saw an older gentleman walking along a road and didn't think much of it at the time. Has anyone checked old highway patrol logs or dash cam footage (if any exists from that time) from major routes in those directions? It's frustrating to think he might have just slipped through the cracks. Still hoping for some breakthrough in this case.
Hey everyone, just wanted to discuss something that’s been on my mind about John Chesley’s case. I came across an article recently that mentioned his background as a Korean War veteran. It got me thinking about how disorienting dementia can be and how sometimes individuals in similar situations might unconsciously gravitate towards memories or places from their past. I wonder if that could have influenced his behavior after he wandered off, possibly leading him away from familiar surroundings. If anyone’s local to the area or knows bits about his past, maybe checking along routes towards veterans’ meeting spots or similar places might help? It’s like looking for a needle in a haystack, but sometimes the most unexpected clues pop up. Thoughts?
