I'm sitting here reflecting on Stephen Kriebel's tragic story and what strikes me most is the role Stephen played as a grandfather to young Owen. Losing a grandfather at such a tender age must be devastating. Owen might not fully grasp the loss now, but the impact on his life will be profound. Stephen seemed to take immense pride in being a granddad, and I can only imagine the joyous moments they shared. It breaks my heart thinking about how Stephen was taken too soon and the memories with Owen that will now never be made. My heart goes out to Virginia and the family as they must now navigate this difficult path, especially in helping young Owen understand and remember the wonderful man his grandfather was. Sending love and strength to them all.
I've been thinking a lot about the role of Stephen's daughter in all of this. I can't imagine the guilt and complexity of emotions she must be experiencing. Being connected, even indirectly, to such a horrible event would weigh heavily on anyone. It's heartbreaking to consider how someone you trust can betray that trust in the most unimaginable way. I sincerely hope she has a strong support system to help her process everything. It's hard enough to lose a father, but to lose one under such circumstances must feel unbearable. My heart goes out to Virginia and the rest of the family as well. They're all in my thoughts.
