I've been following the case of Quadir Patterson, and something that really stands out to me is the missed opportunity for intervention. It’s troubling to think about how he was identified as high-risk but somehow never got the help he needed. I keep wondering if more could’ve been done by the city’s Group Violence Initiative to actually reach him. It's so frustrating to see these programs in place, yet cases like this slip through the cracks. I can't imagine the pain his family must be feeling, knowing there was a system supposedly designed to help him, but it fell short. How do we ensure these programs are more effective in the future? It feels like the system let Quadir down in a big way. Hoping justice is served soon, and that real changes happen to prevent this from happening to someone else.
