Does anyone else find it odd that Jerry was hitchhiking during the daytime? I mean, in the early '60s, that was pretty common, but you'd think a young sailor might have tried to get back to the hospital in a more reliable way, especially with an injured hand. It makes me wonder if he was in a rush to get back for medical reasons. Also, was there anyone who might've been driving regularly in that area who would remember seeing him on the bridge? Local folks from that era might have stories, and maybe some old-timers could shed light on potential witnesses who just haven't come forward. Thoughts on any other hitchhiking cases around that time for some context?
