Hey everyone, I'm hoping to gather some insights about the life jackets and safety equipment aboard the F/V Addington. Does anyone know if the crew, including Melvin Torsen, had adequate safety gear? Maybe some background on the protocols that boat followed? It seems like a critical aspect when vessels sink, and I can't stop thinking about whether better safety measures might have made a difference. Any info or thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!
I've been thinking a lot about the safety measures on fishing vessels after hearing about the tragic sinking of the F/V "Addington" near Cape Uganik. Does anyone have insight into how much regulation there is regarding lifeboats and life vests on these boats? It seems so crucial given how unpredictable the weather can be in the Shelikof Strait. I can't help but wonder if things could have been different for Melvin Torsen and the crew if additional safety precautions were in place. It's always the same question of preparedness versus the reality of the unpredictable sea. Thoughts?
