I've been following the case of Samad B. "Slim" Montgomery, and something that really stands out to me is the role of the phone records in the investigation. It's chilling how technology can provide such a clear picture of the events leading up to such a tragedy. The fact that the authorities could piece together who was talking to Samad the night he was killed surely played a crucial role in bringing some answers to his family. I can't even begin to imagine the relief mixed with pain they must have felt when the court proceedings led to convictions. My heart goes out to them as they navigate this incredibly difficult time. It's just so deeply upsetting to realize that such senseless violence can tear lives apart.
