I was recently reading about the James W. Morse case and something caught my attention—specifically about that hitchhiker he supposedly picked up. Does anyone else think that point is a bit under-explored? It seems like the last known sighting of Morse was with this unknown hitchhiker, yet we hear almost nothing more about them. Could there be a chance this hitchhiker wasn’t Armstrong, or maybe someone who knew him? The van's condition and the blood evidence found certainly make Armstrong’s confession plausible, but I'm wondering if investigators ever looked into whether any other hitchhikers were in the area at the time. This part of the story just feels like a loose thread that could potentially lead to more insights into what happened that day. Anyone else have thoughts on this?
Has anyone else been intrigued by the role that hitchhiking played in the James W. Morse case? I mean, I know it was more common back in the '80s, but it's chilling to think that something seemingly benign could result in such a tragic event. It makes me wonder how often situations like this went wrong, and we just never heard about them. Also, I can't help but think about the many other drifters or hitchhikers who might have crossed paths with Morse or his van that day. Were there more witnesses we never knew about? It’s unsettling to think about all the unanswered questions in a case that already has so many loose ends. Anyone else have thoughts or theories on this angle?
