I've been following Daron Fitzgerald's case, and it's utterly devastating how quickly things escalated that day. What's really been sticking in my mind lately is the role the plea deal played in the overall outcome. I understand that plea deals are part of the legal system and can bring a quicker resolution to what would otherwise be lengthy trials, but it must be so tough for Daron's loved ones. Knowing that some charges were dropped to secure a guilty plea must feel like a double-edged sword to them. While it does ensure that King faces some consequences, I can’t help but wonder if the family feels like it's enough for the loss of Daron’s life. It's just so hard to wrap my head around how court decisions balance these tragic circumstances. Sending strength and peace to all affected by this tragedy.
