I came across a detail in the Maisah Larkin case that really stuck with me. It's incredibly saddening that she had been open about her experiences with domestic abuse, yet was unable to escape in time. It makes you wonder if there were any warning signs that were missed or perhaps not taken seriously enough. The fact that Maisah was trying to protect herself and her children just makes this even more tragic. I hope those three little ones will always be reminded of their mother’s courage and strength. It's comforting to see that the community has stepped up with fundraisers and support, but nothing can fill the void left by her loss. If anyone knows of any local advocacy projects or shelters in Philly that help domestic abuse survivors, please share them here. More awareness and resources could possibly prevent stories like this from happening again. ?
