Has anyone else noticed the strange connection between the dates and locations in Gentry's case? I've been digging through some reports and realized that Toledo and Monroe are pretty close, and there's only a day or so between Barbara Gerber's murder and the other homicide in Toledo. It's odd how quickly Gentry could have moved, especially back in the early '80s. I wonder what kind of transportation he used to cover those distances so swiftly without getting caught. Maybe he had help? Also, that postcard he sent from Los Angeles... it seems too deliberate, like he was taunting law enforcement or trying to throw them off his actual location. Just some random thoughts—would love to hear what others think about this timeline!
I was going through some old case files and I stumbled upon this intriguing detail about John Gentry's disappearance I've not seen mentioned much. Apparently, local rumors in the LA area from around that time hinted at a "strange newcomer" who fit the description of Gentry. Some even say there were sightings of a man who frequented a bar in a Hollywood neighborhood known for artists and drifters. What's fascinating is that this man supposedly changed his appearance regularly, sometimes showing up as a woman, which really lines up with the idea that Gentry was disguising himself. I'm curious if anyone from that area remembers hearing or seeing anything related around that era? It feels like this could be a key piece of the puzzle if someone recalls something that was overlooked back then.
I've always found it really intriguing that Gentry possibly fled to Los Angeles disguised as a woman. It's a bold move and certainly would've helped him blend into the crowd, especially in such a populous and diverse city.

Considering the time period in the early '80s, I wonder how effective these disguise tactics would have been. With California being so far from Michigan, it seems plausible he could have lived under the radar.
Were there ever any solid leads on this? It makes me curious if there were any sightings or reports from those years that just went unnoticed because no one would think to question someone in disguise. It’s crazy how someone could just vanish like that for so long, even if hiding in plain sight. If only someone had kept track of any unusual new arrivals around that time!
