I was searching old newspaper clippings about Marshal George Basore’s tragic death and stumbled upon something interesting about the community response at the time. It seemed like the whole town of Franklin really rallied together in the aftermath. A lot of the locals, who knew Basore as more than just a lawman but as a neighbor and friend, organized a vigil in his honor, gathering outside the station where it happened. It struck me how deep the sense of community was back then—people came together not only to support his family but also to assist in the search for Henry White before his capture. I can't imagine how George's wife and child felt, but I hope they found some comfort in knowing their grief was shared by so many. It's a testament to how much Marshal Basore meant to Franklin.
