I’ve been piecing together some details about Joe Scowden's social circle to see if there are any potential leads that might have been overlooked. From what I’ve found, Joe was known to be quite friendly and made connections easily. It seems like he had a wide network of friends and acquaintances, thanks to his time in the boxing community and maybe even from hanging around the gas station.
One thing that concerns me is whether anyone might have had a grudge against him, possibly someone who felt overshadowed by his success in boxing or held resentment for some other reason. It’s heartbreaking to think about how trust and familiarity could have played a role here. I’ve read that people often speculate he might have let someone in he knew, which makes me wonder about those in his inner circle during that time.
If any locals from the 60s remember more about his friendships or if someone suddenly dropped out of the picture after his murder, that might be worth looking into. Sometimes, the smallest detail can revive a cold case. It would be a huge relief to see closure for Joe’s family, knowing justice was served after all these years.
Hey everyone,
I recently came across the case of Chester "Joe" Scowden, and something really struck me about the location of the crime. The fact that Joe was murdered at the Certified Oil gas station on East Main Street has me wondering about the typical foot traffic in that area back in 1965. Was it a busy spot? Would there have been potential witnesses around, or was it more secluded late at night?
I know there have been a lot of questions over the years about whether Joe might've known his attacker, but I'm curious about the environment at the gas station itself. If it was a common stop for folks in the neighborhood, you'd think someone might've seen something or remembered someone acting suspiciously.
It's so frustrating that this case is still unsolved after all these years. Joe's family deserves answers, and maybe if we could piece together more about the scene, it might spark some new leads. If anyone has any historical insights or maps of that area, it could really help us understand more about what happened that night.
Thanks for reading and for keeping Joe in your thoughts. <3
