It's truly devastating to read about John Hardaway's murder and the senseless violence driven by hate. What really stands out to me is the resilience of Hardaway's family throughout this terrible ordeal. The interviews and statements they gave during the trial showed so much strength and dignity. It's unimaginable having to relive the trauma through court hearings and appeals over so many years. I've been thinking a lot about how cases like this affect the community as a whole. Cleveland seemed to come together in its shock and grief, supporting each other and raising awareness about the dangers of racially motivated violence. Hardaway’s unjust death, alongside others during Spisak's spree, became a rallying point for change, but it’s just so tragic that it had to happen this way for the conversation to gain traction. I hope as we continue to remember and honor Hardaway’s life, we can also learn to be more vigilant and supportive against hate in all its forms. My thoughts remain with his family and friends and the community as they continue to heal.
