I was reading about Officer Derek Owens' case recently and what struck me the most was the outpouring of support from the community after this senseless tragedy. The way people came together to honor his memory, naming a park after him, shows the impact he had on those around him. It's times like these when I really see the strength of a community. My heart goes out to his family, especially his children, Sydni and Chandler, who are growing up without their father. It's important for us to continue to support families like the Owens and to remember the contributions and sacrifices of officers like Derek. It makes me wonder how the community has continued to remember and honor him in the years since. Does anyone know if there have been additional tributes or events in his memory?
