Lydia's story is one that has stuck with me since I first heard about it. I can’t stop thinking about the immense pain Benny must be carrying. Losing his mom and brother on the same day is unimaginable, and my heart goes out to him. It's maddening to think that those responsible are still out there somewhere. There's something particularly unsettling about how the suspects simply vanished after doing something so horrific. How did they manage to escape so swiftly and without a trace, especially with the immediate and extensive search that followed? It’s like they just disappeared into thin air. What’s even more disturbing is the silence surrounding any leads or tips that could have brought Lydia and Alexis some semblance of justice. If anyone reading this has any information, even the slightest detail, please don’t hold it back. Benny deserves to see those responsible held accountable, and Lydia and Alexis deserve justice. The community needs to rally together and find a way to solve this—Benny shouldn’t have to live the rest of his life looking over his shoulder, wondering.

It's been nearly a decade since that tragic day on Norman Avenue, and my heart goes out to all who knew Lydia Colon Aviles and her family. The anguish that Benny must have endured – losing a mother and brother while fighting for his own life – is unimaginable. Does anyone here know if the community or local organizations have set up any ongoing support for Benny and those affected? I'd imagine that moving forward after such an event takes an enormous amount of strength and support. I’m curious if there have been any initiatives to honor Lydia and Alexis's memory in Ashtabula, perhaps through community projects or scholarship funds? The community seemed to rally around their family initially, and I hope that support has continued in some meaningful way over the years.

I’ve been thinking a lot about the memorial service that was held for Lydia Colon Aviles and her son, Alexis Xavier Mook-Colon. It must have been incredibly moving for those who attended at First Community Church of God. I can only imagine how their family and friends found some comfort in coming together to honor their memory. It's so important for communities to have a place to grieve and support one another after such a shocking event. I wasn’t able to attend, but I truly hope that the service brought a sense of peace to those in mourning. Has anyone heard if there are plans for another community gathering or vigil? These events can be so vital in keeping the memory of the victims alive and ensuring the focus on finding justice remains strong. ?
