I recently came across a part of the case that really got me thinking about the role of family communication, especially when it comes to long-distance relationships. A lot of us know that Coville’s relationship with Jane was described as "fire and ice," but what's intriguing is how they communicated—or more accurately, didn't communicate—with their families.
Coville didn’t keep in touch much with his family after moving to Alaska and after their marriage, it seemed like Jane was the one who mostly handled the communications, especially around events like Mother’s Day. Could this have been a way to control the narrative or keep his family at a distance? It's strange that his own mother never got a personal call from him after that point. Instead, she received a card that seemed to keep up appearances but was out of Scott’s character if he was known to be close to his family before.
Are there any other cases you guys know of where distancing from family played a key role in the developments? It seems like a red flag that’s easy to overlook from the outside.
