I'm really shaken by Eugene Gartin's passing and the circumstances surrounding it. It’s truly difficult to imagine the pain he must have been enduring, especially after having served our country. It feels like the system somehow let him down, not addressing his PTSD adequately. It’s especially tragic because he was found at the police department of all places, a site that perhaps symbolized his search for help or safety. My heart goes out to his family and friends who are left with so many unanswered questions. It’s so important that we advocate for more mental health support for veterans and ensure they have the resources they need. I hope further awareness from this tragedy brings about change. Please, if anyone is fighting their own battles out there, don’t hesitate to reach out for help. There are people who care and resources available.
