I can't stop thinking about how brave Abdullah was in that awful moment. It must have been terrifying when Larry McDonald walked into Reemas Fashions with the intent to rob it. I can only imagine the fear he felt, especially having dealt with a robbery at another one of his stores just the day before. It's gut-wrenching to think he felt the need to arm himself to protect his livelihood and employees, only for it to end this way. It's important to remember not just the tragedy but the life Abdullah led. By all accounts, he was a kind and hardworking man who was devoted to his family both here and in Yemen. His efforts to support his loved ones and his community speak volumes. The turnout at his funeral at Masjid Al-Khair shows just how many lives he touched. I'm hopeful that the justice system will ensure Larry McDonald is held accountable for his actions. In the meantime, it's heartening to see Abdullah's friends and the community come together to support his family during this unimaginably difficult period. This kind of solidarity is crucial, and it's a small comfort knowing that people are stepping up to help those left behind. Love and support are what Abdullah would have wanted, and it's the least we can do to honor his memory.
