I've been following Kieta C. Smith's case and wanted to share some thoughts on the role community plays in healing after such a tragic loss. It's really moving to see how family, friends, and even strangers have come together to celebrate Kieta’s life and work. His poetry and beautiful pencil drawings seem to have touched so many people, serving as both a tribute to his talent and a therapeutic outlet for those grieving. I think it’s important to remember that while justice has been served with Gamble’s sentencing, our support for Kieta's loved ones shouldn't end there. This community has a unique opportunity to ensure Kiera Smith, Kieta's daughter, grows up knowing how loved and talented her father was. In times like these, art and poetry can be powerful tools for keeping memories alive and fostering healing. Just hoping we continue to rally around this family and keep Kieta’s spirit alive in a positive way.
