It’s hard to wrap my head around the emotional trauma that Jean Elliott’s family, especially her 12-year-old granddaughter, must be experiencing following this horrific event. Returning home from what should have been a joyful family gathering only to experience such violence is beyond comprehension. This young girl not only lost her grandmother in such a violent way but survived an attack herself. She’ll carry the weight of that day for the rest of her life, and my heart goes out to her and the entire family as they navigate this difficult time. I hope they have a strong support system surrounding them and access to the resources they need for healing. It’s a reminder of just how fragile life is and, unfortunately, how evil can lurk in the shadows of everyday life. The community's coming together to support them has been incredibly moving.
