I was reading about Deontae Fisher's case, and my heart goes out to his family. I can't even begin to imagine the pain they're going through. What caught my attention was the broader issue of gang influence on younger individuals in Columbus. We hear so much about these gangs recruiting young people, and it's infuriating how they continue to affect innocent lives. This case really highlights the importance of community programs that focus on keeping our youth engaged in positive activities and away from gang influence. If anyone knows of any successful initiatives or programs in other cities that could be implemented in Columbus, it would be great to see those shared more widely. It just feels like there must be more we can do to protect kids like Deontae and his brother. Sending all my support to Deontae’s family and hoping for significant changes in the community soon.
