I've been looking into the unsolved murder of Dijion King from December 2011, and it's troubling to see how many cases like his remain unresolved. It's so frustrating that resource constraints within the Detroit PD back then really seemed to have hampered investigations. I can't imagine the pain and frustration his family must feel, not having answers even after all these years. From what I understand, witnesses in some of these cases aren't always forthcoming, which doesn't help the situation. I'm wondering if community programs aimed at encouraging witness cooperation could make a difference? It seems like there needs to be some level of trust rebuilt between the community and law enforcement to really make strides in solving these open cases. If anyone has seen success in other cities tackling these issues, I'd be interested to hear about it. Hopefully, more people start to come forward and offer information that can lead to some form of justice for Dijion and others like him.
