I've been following the case of Tammy Cox and the other victims with a heavy heart. Something that really stands out to me is the role that mental health seemed to play in this tragedy. It's incredibly concerning that Muhammad Shabazz Ali was released from a mental health facility just hours before the shooting. It raises so many questions about the system's ability to evaluate the risk someone might pose to themselves or others when they're clearly in a state of crisis. I've read that Ali had arguments with Tammy leading up to that horrible day, and neighbors noticed his strange behavior — which makes me wonder if more could have been done to intervene. It's terrifying to think that warning signs could have been missed or not acted upon, especially when so many lives were at stake. This isn't about shifting blame but about learning and pushing for better measures in mental health evaluations to hopefully prevent something like this from ever happening again. My thoughts are with Tammy's family and friends, and all those affected by this senseless act. The community in Dayton must be truly shaken, and I hope they find some peace and justice in the aftermath of this tragic event.
