I can't stop thinking about the role of bystanders and witnesses in these tragic cases like Eric Howard's. The fact that multiple people were injured and one young life was tragically lost is devastating. I just wish more folks would come forward and share what they know. It's understandably scary, but witness testimonies can be so crucial, especially in sorting out gang-related incidents.
Eric deserved so much better, and it's on the community and those who were there to help ensure justice is served. I've seen some amazing community initiatives aiming to support witnesses and provide them protection and anonymity. I hope something similar can happen in this case to encourage people to step forward. Eric's family deserves to know that everything possible is being done to find everyone responsible.

Gang violence is tearing communities apart, and it’s just so frustrating that innocent lives keep getting caught in the middle.
