I was just reading more about the Robert Godwin Sr. case, and I can't stop thinking about how resilient his family has been through all of this. I recently saw an interview with one of his daughters, and the strength and grace she showed while talking about her father's legacy was so touching. It's incredible to see how she's channeling her grief into advocacy and spreading awareness to prevent future tragedies like this. It must be so hard to keep pushing for change while carrying such a heavy personal loss. Her journey through grief and her efforts to make a positive impact in the world are truly inspiring. Sending love and support to the Godwin family as they continue to honor Robert's memory. ?
Has anyone else been following the Godwin case closely and noticed the impact it had on social media platforms? It's been over six years, and I still think about how quickly that video spread. It's like it was shared endlessly, and it still haunts me to remember the way it brought that awful event right into our lives unfiltered. I can't even imagine what his family must feel, knowing that the worst moment of their lives was viewed by so many around the world.
I read about their lawsuit against Facebook and totally understand why they'd want to hold them accountable, even though it got dismissed. Hopefully, this case serves as a wake-up call about the responsibilities these platforms have in monitoring violent content. It feels so important to find ways to prevent this kind of thing from happening again. Anyone else hope to see stricter controls on what gets posted? My thoughts are with the Godwin family as they continue advocating for change.
