I've been reading quite a bit about the Helton case, and something that really stands out to me is how the community rallied around the surviving family members. It’s truly moving to see neighbors and friends come together to provide support and care for those affected by such an unimaginably tragic event. This type of response highlights how essential community involvement can be during times of crisis. It also makes me think about the role of community organizations and social services. There seemed to have been opportunities to intervene before things reached this tragic point. I wonder how much more effective intervention could be if communities were more empowered and resourced to support families in distress. It’s so important that we learn from these tragedies to prevent them from happening in the future.
