Hey everyone, I came across some news about Derray Deshawn Kennedy and it really got to me. I can’t stop thinking about his family and friends and what they must be going through. In looking over the details, something that seems a bit under-discussed is the tragic ripple effect of youth violence on communities. It’s unsettling to see how gun violence can ripple out and affect so many lives. Derray was only 20—practically just getting started with life. I keep thinking about how these young individuals end up caught in such dangerous situations. Given that Kiandre Erkins was implicated due to his connection with Demetrius Powell, it really shows how these networks of violence and influence can drag people into situations that have these dire consequences. I hope this case serves as a reminder of the need for stronger community involvement and support for our youth. Derray and Demetrius deserved to have brighter futures, and I truly hope their stories spark some real change. ? Anyone else following this case closely? Thoughts on the community response so far?
