It's been over five years since the tragic events on South Hague Avenue, and my heart goes out to the families of Keith Williams III and Marlazia Jones-Mattox. Losing two young lives, and one being a new mom who never got to hold her baby, is just devastating. I'm curious about how the community has been holding up since then. I remember there were memorials and efforts to raise awareness about gun violence in Columbus, but has the community seen any positive changes or initiatives to prevent such tragedies since then? Sometimes, the strength and unity from communities can lead to incredible prevention efforts and healing. How are the surviving family members and their community coping today?

I’ve been following the case of Keith Williams III and Marlazia Jones-Mattox from Columbus, and I'm haunted by the roles that Christian Dequan Dillion and Mario Marshawn Wade played in this tragedy. I just can’t shake wondering what might drive two young men, barely adults themselves, to commit such an atrocious act. It makes you think about the influences and circumstances that might lead someone down such a dark path, and what can be done to prevent this from happening to others. My heart goes out to the families of Keith and Marlazia; it's just devastating to think about how much they've lost and how their lives were turned upside down. We need to keep pushing for changes to address such violence in our communities and ensure this cycle doesn’t continue. Thoughts and prayers for the family, and especially for the little one who will grow up without knowing his brave mother.
