Has anyone else been following the Jvonte Johnston case? I've been thinking a lot about the unintended roles children can unfortunately take on in these situations. The fact that Jvonte’s brother was only 13 and now has to deal with the legal system at such a young age is really distressing. It's hard not to feel a deep sense of compassion for him as well, caught up in something so devastating that will likely affect him for the rest of his life. This situation raises so many important questions about how we safeguard our children and what kind of support systems are in place for young people who find themselves in these tragic circumstances. Hopefully, community programs can emerge to help prevent something like this from happening again. This whole situation just breaks your heart for both of these young boys and their family. Sending all my thoughts to them.

I’ve been following the Jvonte Johnston case and can’t stop thinking about how this tragedy could have been avoided with better gun safety practices. It’s terrifying to think about how common it is for kids to have access to firearms at home. I can’t even begin to imagine the guilt and trauma that the 13-year-old must be feeling, knowing what happened to his little brother. This whole situation is just awful for the entire family. I hope this case will be a wake-up call to others about securing guns away from children. It’s one thing to talk about the dangers, but seeing a real-life example like this gives it a devastating perspective. My heart goes out to Jvonte’s family as they navigate through such a painful time.
