I was reading about the Cincinnati shooting and couldn’t stop thinking about Pruthvi Raj Kandepi's journey and the fact that he was only 25 years old with so much potential ahead of him. As someone who moved from India to the U.S., it's a big leap, filled with dreams and the hope of building a future far away from home. It’s comforting to see the Telugu Association of North America stepping up to help bring Pruthvi back to his family in India. It’s a small reminder of the compassion and support from communities during such dark times. My thoughts are with his loved ones and everyone affected by this tragic event.
Just read about Pruthvi Raj Kandepi's memorial service back in Tenali, Andhra Pradesh, and it's stirring up a lot of emotions. I can't even begin to imagine what his family went through, having to send him off to another country for work only to have him returned so tragically. The Telugu Association played a huge role in making sure he made it back home, which is a small comfort to his loved ones, I'm sure.
It's also got me thinking about how hard it must be for families far away when something like this happens. The distance must make the heartache even more unbearable. I hope that in some way, knowing people everywhere are paying attention and care brings them a bit of solace.
There are so many calls for enhanced security in public places now, and I just keep thinking about how we shouldn't have to live in fear. How did we get to this point? What are your thoughts on how communities overseas can better support families dealing with such terrible losses?
