I've been following the case of Robert Sims, and something that's really stuck with me is the impact this incident had on the neighborhood. Fairfax is a relatively quiet area, and I can't imagine the shock of having such a violent event occur when it's been peaceful there for decades. It's awful that something like this jolted the sense of security that people had. I feel for the neighbors who ran over to try and help Robert – it must have been incredibly traumatic for them, too. It just shows how much this tragedy has ripple effects beyond the immediate family involved. I hope that, in time, the community can find some sense of peace and normalcy again.
