I've been thinking about Mark Tompkins and the circumstances of his death. It's incredibly sad to see someone lose their life while trying to do the right thing. What struck me the most was the bravery Mark exhibited — to step in during a dangerous situation, putting himself at risk, shows a lot of courage. While we mourn the loss of a life taken too soon, it also raises important questions about community safety and how we can better protect those who, like Mark, are just trying to protect what is theirs. The ongoing crime issues in areas like Detroit make me wonder about the systemic changes necessary to prevent such tragedies from happening again. It's deeply troubling that despite community efforts, families like Mark's still find themselves waiting for justice. Anyone else have thoughts on what meaningful steps could be taken to support communities facing high crime rates? What can we do to ensure the bravery of individuals like Mark is honored by cultivating safer environments for everyone?

Hey everyone, I've been following the case of Mark Tompkins, and I've been thinking a lot about the kind of person he must have been. It sounds like he was incredibly brave to try and stop a car theft, which is such a selfless act. I've read some of the stories shared by his friends and family on his memorial page, and they paint a picture of someone who was truly loved and admired. It's tragic to lose someone who seemed to be such a positive influence in the community. It's so disturbing to think that this happened right outside his home on Lafayette Street. I can't imagine the fear and grief his family must feel, knowing he was trying to protect what was his. Detroit's had such a tough time with crime, and this is a painful reminder of that reality. I'm holding out hope that the community and authorities keep pushing for accountability and justice in Mark's case. He deserves that, and so does his family. Anyone else have thoughts or updates on how the community is handling things now?
