Has anyone else been following the updates on the Deshawn Phillips case? I’ve been thinking a lot about how this incident challenged the notion of increased safety in East Westwood, especially with the recent positive trends due to the Pivot program. It seemed like the community was turning a corner, putting in so much effort to reduce violence. I can't imagine how unsettling it must be for the residents who believed things were getting safer, only to experience such a tragic event. While I understand the importance of focusing on justice for Deshawn, I'm also really hopeful that this will renew efforts and discussions around the importance of these safety programs. Community safety is such a fragile thing, and it's evident how crucial it is to maintain and support these initiatives. My thoughts are with Deshawn's loved ones, and with everyone in the community who must be dealing with this fear and uncertainty. Anyone here from East Westwood? Would love to hear how you all feel about the program's future and its impact.
