I've been thinking a lot about the presence of domestic violence and how it leads to these kinds of tragedies. Yaisa Cordero's case is so deeply unsettling, especially with what seems to be a history of abuse and threats from James Evans Jr. It just makes me wonder, why aren't these threats taken more seriously before things spiral out of control? It isn't just about statistics here—real lives have been shattered. I can’t imagine the pain her son must be going through right now, losing both a mother and sister in such a horrific way, and having narrowly survived himself. It's also so sad to hear that Yaisa was trying to help Evans change, even taking him to church for baptism. I believe it shows the kind of person she was—kind and hopeful, even towards someone who clearly had issues. But, it also makes me think about how difficult it is for victims to break free from toxic relationships, especially when they hold onto hope that the other person can change. I wonder if more awareness or earlier intervention could have made a difference here. Thoughts and prayers are with their family and friends, and it’s heartening to see the community coming together with the GoFundMe to support them in this incredibly difficult time.

I can't stop thinking about Yaisa's compassion and willingness to help James Evans despite the clear danger he posed. It’s such a gut-wrenching reminder of how people in abusive situations often find themselves torn between their own safety and the hope that their abuser can change. Yaisa even went as far as trying to guide him towards a better path by helping with his baptism. Unfortunately, it’s a hard lesson on how, despite good intentions, the cycle of abuse can end tragically. My heart goes out to Yaisa’s son and the rest of the family who are now left to pick up the pieces. Hoping the community continues to stand strong for them and honors Yaisa and Joceline’s memory by raising awareness about domestic violence. ?
