Hey everyone,

I've been diving into some of the tragedies that hit Detroit in 2012, and I can't shake how deeply saddening the case of Tory Hamilton is. His murder on Lakepointe Street is just one piece of a devastating puzzle that seemed to define that summer. It really hits home when you think about how families like Tory's were left grappling with the aftermath, often feeling like they're shouting into the void for justice or answers.

What's particularly troubling is how places like Lakepointe have seen repeated violent incidents—it's like a tragic cycle that seems so difficult to break. I can't help but wonder what more could have been—or can be—done to prevent these types of tragedies and help communities heal. Sending thoughts to Tory's loved ones and anyone else who knows what it feels like to be waiting for justice in the midst of such harsh realities.

Anyone have thoughts on the systemic changes needed to address violence in areas like Detroit?
I've been following Tory Hamilton's case, and I've been wondering about the impact that the wave of violence in Detroit had on police resources around 2012. It seems like a lot of cases from that year remain unresolved or took a long time to solve. Tory’s family, like many, must be feeling so frustrated and helpless. I can't imagine waiting so long for any real answers or justice. It makes me think about how under-resourced the police might have been at that time and how overwhelming it must've been to deal with such widespread violence. It must be incredibly difficult for families to go through that. I've read that community organizations were trying to step up to fill the gaps, but with so many tragedies occurring, it's heartbreaking to think about how many families had to endure similar waits and uncertainties. Does anyone know if there were any major changes in resource allocation or community support in the years following 2012?
