I recently came across Cierra Danae Morris's case, and it just breaks my spirit to think about what her and her family have been through. One thing that really struck me was the incredible bravery her father, Leroy Morris, showed during such a horrific moment. In a split second, he made the ultimate sacrifice to try and protect his daughter. It's just devastating to think about the impact of losing not just Cierra, but Leroy as well, on their loved ones.
The strength and courage of Cierra's mom, Donna, are also beyond words. Managing to take her granddaughter to safety amidst such chaos and heartbreak is incredible. It's a reminder of the lengths parents will go to keep their children safe, even in the face of unimaginable danger.
I'm hoping that Cierra and Leroy’s story brings more attention to the problems of domestic violence in our communities, and that their family finds some solace in the support and love from others who are moved by their story. My heart goes out to little Jordyn and the rest of the Morris family—what they've endured is unimaginable. Sending them strength and peaceful moments during these tough times.
