Just came across another detail in the tragic case of Jimmy Crum that I can't shake off. It's been heavy on my mind how the whole incident seemed to escalate so quickly, all starting from what appeared to be a simple request for the customer to leave Van's Carry Out. It makes me think about how delicate situations can spiral out of control in the blink of an eye. It's truly upsetting to know that something so routine in a workplace can end in such a catastrophe. Jimmy was just doing his job, likely never imagining the danger waiting around the corner. My heart goes out to his family, friends, and everyone in the neighborhood who knew him. Their pain must be beyond words. This case really underscores the importance of having measures in place to de-escalate potentially violent situations. It’s a reminder that we need to support local businesses with tools and training to handle conflicts like these before they turn deadly. I hope some real change comes from this tragic loss—not just for the community in Columbus, but everywhere.
