I've been following the case of Shawn A. Wright and the other victims in West Jefferson, and something that's been on my mind is the location of the incident. Having the shootings occur on a dead-end road seems so eerie to me. It's as if there was no easy escape route for anyone involved, and I wonder if Steckel exploited this fact. Was it a place they all frequented, making it a location they felt comfortable at, or was there some other reason they were all gathered there at the time? It must be incredibly difficult for the families, not just to deal with the loss but also the questions about how and why it all happened. I hope that as the investigation continues, the authorities will provide more answers so that the families can find some peace amid this senseless tragedy. My thoughts are with them all.
