Does anyone else feel deeply unsettled by the fact that Cedrick Patterson was out and about when Bernard Owens was murdered? Learning that just days before taking Bernard’s life, Patterson had shot someone else who thankfully survived—it’s chilling to think how things might have been different. I can't imagine the anguish Bernard’s family must feel knowing this tragedy might have been prevented if only there had been more cooperation with law enforcement. It’s understandable how trust with police can be shaky in some communities, but stories like these remind us of the potential consequences. How do we bridge that gap? My thoughts are with Bernard's loved ones during this incredibly difficult time. ?️
