It's deeply troubling to hear about the circumstances surrounding Masonique Saunders' death at Saunders Park. I can't even begin to imagine what her family must be going through. It’s unbelievable how gun violence continues to shatter lives and communities. One thing that's been on my mind is the potential motive behind this senseless act. If this shooting was indeed in retaliation for the 2018 incident involving Julius Tate Jr., it's a stark reminder of how cycles of violence and retribution can extend across years and affect so many lives. Masonique was clearly trying to move forward and create a positive future for herself, but it seems her past was tragically inescapable. For the community and her loved ones, finding closure is crucial. I truly hope that anyone with information finds the courage to step forward. Moments like these underscore the importance of breaking the silence and helping authorities bring those responsible to justice. My thoughts are with Masonique's family and the other victims of gun violence in Columbus. This needs to stop.
