I’ve been reading about Pablo Murillo-Alcaraz's disappearance and can't help but wonder about the conditions around the Rogue River that time of year. May is when the snowmelt really picks up, and I’ve read that the river can become unpredictable with sudden surges. Does anyone here have experience with rivers like the Rogue around spring runoff? It seems plausible that the river could carry someone quite a distance under those conditions, especially with the velocity and debris. I'm curious how these factors might affect search and recovery efforts. It seems challenging if not impossible to navigate those waters safely when they’re running so high and fast.
I was recently reading through some older cases and came across Pablo Murillo-Alcaraz's disappearance from 2012. Something I've been pondering is the impact of river conditions on recovery efforts. The Rogue River was running high and cold at the time, which surely added to the complexity of the search. Has anyone else looked into how spring runoff affects these types of operations? It seems like the search would've been particularly challenging and dangerous for search and rescue teams. Would love to hear thoughts on how they might approach a search differently during those conditions, or if there’s been advances in techniques or technology since then?
